Coram Man Found With Gun, Cocaine In Eviction Proceeding: Sheriff
CORAM, NY — A Coram man was found with a loaded gun and drugs during the execution of a warrant on July 17, Suffolk Sheriff Errol Toulon's office said Tuesday.
James V. Scavetta, 31, was found with a loaded, unregistered firearm, a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and brass knuckles, as well as a quantity of cocaine, packaging material, and a scale, according to Toulon's office.
Over $1,800 was also recovered, Toulon's office said.
The warrant was executed at around 10 a.m., according to Toulon's office.
Scavetta was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He was additionally charged with misdemeanors, including one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count each of third-and seventh criminal possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia.
He is due back in court on Sept. 25, according to an online court record.
